TRANSPORTATION Two Evergreen Contracts - Assignments through out the San Antonio District for the Texas Department of Transportation. Current projects include Seguin Road/ Union Pacific Railroad/ IH 410 Drainage Study, the widening and reconstruction of rural roadways including FM 1341, FM 140, SH 127, FM 2771, and FM 1346, and a preliminary analysis and drainage design for multiple on-system bridge replacements. Jones-Maltsberger at U. S. 281 Reconstruction - Preparation of plans and specifications for widening the roadway to a 5-lane section. Plans include a typical section, traffic control, street plan and profile, storm drainage improvements, pavement marking and signage, and signal improvements. Also included was obtaining a railroad permit. 36th Street from U.S. 90 to Kelly USA and New Luke Road - As a Subconsultant, BMB assignments include a drainage study, drainage design, Right-of-Way and utility surveys for upgrade/rerouting of 36th Street into an urban arterial and then into a gateway for Kelly USA. The New Luke Road survey includes horizontal and vertical control, topography, utilities, and cross sectioning for the design of a new urban arterial through Kelly USA. Nacogdoches Road from Loop 410 to Danbury - Preparation of plans and specifications for street, drainage, sewer and water reconstruction, and improvements. Services also include traffic control, marking, signal improvements, and periodic construction inspection. This is an MPO project prepared to TxDOT standards. F. M. 969 - Professional engineering services to include minor roadway design for improving the capacity of an existing rural roadway with the addition of a left turn lane and shoulder widening. Responsibilities include typical sections, cross sections, pavement markings, signing layouts, culvert extensions with S.E.T.’s, utility coordination, plan/profile, misc. roadway details, project layout, and SW3P. MUNICIPAL DESIGN (STREET AND DRAINAGE) Rip Rap 69, Phase IID - Civil engineering and survey services for a 2005 Storm Water Revenue Bond Project, which anticipates the increase of the existing drainage channel capacity to a 25-year storm event from Marney Plaza to Stonewall to IH 35. The project includes the enlargement of three box bridges and street reconstructions. In addition, a 404 Jurisdictional Determination to the U. S. Corps of Engineers determines if a 404 Permit is required. Channel hydraulics also includes an analysis of the 100-year ultimate storm. Bexar County Drainage Culverts - Plans and specifications for the design of drainage culverts at five locations in Bexar County. Services include the survey of the existing structures, design of the new structures, and the utility coordination. Cagnon Road - Plans and specifications for street constructions and drainage improvements, including Right-of-Way surveying. Services also included traffic control planning, marking, construction staking and periodic construction inspection. Six Mile Creek (Upper Portion) - Preparation of plans and specifications for drainage improvements along the upper portion of the creek, from Hutchins to Zarzamora Street. This project includes hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, design of a multiple box culvert under I.H. 35 and Zarzamora, drainage under two railroad bridges, utility and TxDOT co-ordination, a TxDOT Permit, R.O.W. document preparation of TxDOT permit, and construction administration. U.S. 90 Bridge Replacement at 36th Street - As a Subconsultant, BMB task assignments include a drainage design for the reconstruction of the bridge at 36th Street, the reconstruction of the existing intersection with the turn-around, and the improvement of vertical clearance under U.S. 90. This project also includes Right-of-Way and utility survey services, drainage design with evaluation of existing drainage using THYSYS, SW3P, and miscellaneous roadway design. Six UPRR Crossings (Mission, North Brazos, West Woodlawn, Dreamland, Wurzbach and Orsinger Streets) - Surveying and Engineering services for the design of adjustments to the roadways at the railroad crossings. BMB also provides a traffic control plan for each crossing. These services are in conjunction with the City of San Antonio Public Works Department. Services include control and DTM surveying, base drawing, calculation of hydrology/hydraulics, if requested, setting of proposed roadway profile based on a proposed and/or adjusted railroad grade. Duke Area Streets - Replacement of existing sewer and water facilities for Phase I. Provide right-of-way and topographic survey services, mapping and coordination of existing utilities, and resolution of discrepancies, and coordinate with the City of San Antonio on a joint bid for work related to street reconstruction. SAWS work includes the replacement of a six-inch AC water main with an eight-inch PVC water main including all appurtenances. This includes the installation of an eight-inch water main in Wake Forest and Marquette and to loop the system and relocate services from alley or easements. BMB investigates, revises, and/or prepares plans for a sewer adjustment installation on Varsity Street. Evergreen Street and Evergreen Court - Preparation of plans and specifications for street, sewer and water reconstruction and improvements. Services also include traffic control planning, marking, signal improvements, construction staking, and periodic inspection. Courtland and Ogden Streets - Preparation of plans and specifications for street, sewer, and water reconstruction and improvements. Services also include traffic control planning, marking, signal improvements, construction staking, and periodic inspection. UTILITIES Investigation of SAWS Utilities - Engineering and Surveying services for the investigation of the existing water and sanitary sewer locations for horizontal and vertical conflicts. Preparation of exception requests to allow existing lines that are under the new pavement widening to remain as is if they are not going to be in conflict. Identification of the possible conflicts and obtain pothole information to determine actual construction conflicts and prepare of proposed conflicts. Lakeside Village Subdivision - Engineering services to replace existing water and sanitary sewer lines in the Lakeside Village Mobile Home Park. Services include surveying, an investigation of the condition of existing utilities, making recommendations to replace existing utilities, and preparation of plans and specifications for replacement. Services also include periodic inspection and construction staking. San Fernando Water Company - Upgrade of Phase I including engineering and survey services to replace 4,810 linear feet of existing 8' water line in Taft Street from Nogalitos to Zarzamora Streets. Services include preparation of plans and specifications, periodic construction observation and construction staking. Linda Lou/ Boxelder Lane Street and Drainage - Engineering services to design the water and sewer facility replacements located within the area generally described as Linda Lou Drive/ Box Elder Lane Street. Los Angeles Heights - As a sub-consultant, BMB services include a design of sewer and water replacement in the Los Angeles Heights neighborhood. BMB provides right-of-way and topographic survey services, mapping and coordination of existing utilities, and resolution of discrepancies for the 375-acre project area, and coordinates with the City of San Antonio on a joint bid for work related to street reconstruction. Design services include plans, specifications, and preparation of bid documents for the area. Loop 1604 at U. S. 281 - Survey services to prepare an Easement for CPS access. Elsie and Glenn Streets - Preparation of plans and specifications sewer and water replacement, as a part of joint bidding during street replacement. Ellor - Preparation of plans and specifications sewer and water replacement, as a part of joint bidding during street replacement Maria Elena, Lula Mae, Dumbarton, and Eureka Streets - Engineering services to design the water and sewer facility replacements for four streets. 24” Water Main at F. M. 1937 - Professional Engineering services to revise plans to reflect Phase I scope and to update plans based on SAWS requirements. BMB revises tabulations of expected construction cost and revises plans per comments. BMB also meets with SAWS, TxDOT, and Gajeske. BMB prepares and submits a Scour Analysis to SAWS for review. South Area Lift Stations - Sewer Project to eliminate existing lift stations in the Pyron Street, Symphony Drive and Mission Road area. Project includes design of new sewer mains and preparation of easement documents. The review of the existing survey of the area, additional survey and revision to survey documents, utility coordination and revision of any conflicts, coordination with Mission Trails Project for any conflicts or areas of concern, and submittal of request of the utility permit from TxDOT. Sunset Road Water and Sewer Replacement - Design of sewer and water adjustment plans for street reconstruction. CULTURAL AND EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES Alamo Community College District - Multiple assignments include site design, re-platting and rezoning, drainage studies, and miscellaneous civil design projects at campuses of San Antonio College, St. Phillips College, Northwest Vista College and Palo Alto College. San Antonio Independent School District - Multiple assignments over the past fifteen years providing civil, survey and platting, zoning and street and alley closures for schools throughout the district. Trinity University - Multiple survey assignments for new construction and refurbishment projects on the campus. St. Peter and St. Joseph’s and Seton Homes - Civil design for new buildings and facilities, survey, platting and site design. Carver Community Cultural Center and the Carver Academy - Professional Engineering services providing site visits, grading plans, site utility plans, details, specifications, assistance in coordination of utilities, reconstruction conference, review shop drawings and submittals, assistance in preparation and modification, job site visits, final inspection punch list, civil record drawings, and design of the new soccer field for the historic Carver Community Cultural Center, and the Carver Academy. Harlandale, Ft. Sam Houston and La Vernia School Districts - Professional engineering services at various campus locations preparing site and drainage plans for enhancement projects. COMMERCIAL PROJECTS Holy Trinity Catholic Church WPAP - Preparation of a sedimentation/filtration pond as part of the WPAP over the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone. Responsible for sizing and flow calculations, natural vegetative filter strip and annual pollutant load calculations, pond design and sediment/filtration basins maintenance requirements. Coordinates with TNRCC (TCEQ) (1998). CPS Primary Energy Control Center - Civil design to prepare site plans, specifications and construction services on a 20 acre site adjacent to the East Side Service Center CPS/Deely Baghouse Project 1 & 2 - Professional Engineering and Surveying services to verify existing control points, site topographic survey, utility survey, coordination of geotechnical survey, coordination of structural foundation design, site grading, drainage plan, design of new or relocated roadways, parking, and lay down areas. Sub surface utility work was coordinated thru BMB to provide accurate locations of critical piping within and around the Deely Plant. Gillman Honda - Multiple assignments at the site starting with initial survey, and including design of civil site plans, grading plans, storm drainage, sewer and water plans, platting, and miscellaneous work, as the Honda facility expanded. Holiday Inn Select - Civil site plans, including dimension control plan, design of grading, utility, storm drainage, sewer, water and SW3P plan. Also included was permitting, bidding and construction services. LAND DEVELOPMENT Olympia Subdivision - Master planning and design of a 700-acre residential subdivision including the layout of all streets, water, storm, and sanitary sewers and underground utilities. Survey services for design include Right-Of-Way, control, and design with construction staking. Escondido Subdivision - Escondido Creek Subdivision is a 90+ Acre single family development. It was developed in 4 units totaling 397 lots. The site was located inside the City of San Antonio Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction in Bexar County (Binz-Engleman and FM 1516). Water was provided by Bexar Metropolitan Water District and Sewer Service by San Antonio River Authority (SARA). Of interest was the handling of the Stormwater increase due to development. The capacity of the downstream Martinez Dam No. 3 was increased by the detention volume the development would have required. This increased the capacity of the existing dam and provided detention without having to build a Detention Pond on-site. Braun Station Subdivision - Master land planning for a 234 acre residential subdivision including the design of the streets, water, sanitary and storm sewer, utilities. Survey services include Right-Of-Way, parcel maps, design, and construction staking with periodic inspection. Fox Run Subdivision - Land planning and design for a 150-acre residential subdivision including complete survey services, Right-Of-Way, legal descriptions and parcels maps, design and construction layout, street, sanitary and storm sewer design, water and all other utilities. Marymont Subdivision - Master planning and design of a 250-acre residential subdivision, including layout of all streets, water, storm and sanitary sewers, and underground utilities, survey services for design include Right-O-Way, control and design with construction staking. The area is heavily wooded with numerous specimen trees. Street layout is designed to accommodate the existing trees and features. PARKS U. S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service San Antonio Missions National Historical Park San José, San Juan Capistrano, Espada, Concepcíon and Rancho Las Cabras - Provide research to determine recorded easements and legal descriptions of the properties. Survey Plats and Field Notes are prepared for the properties and a composite map of the areas are developed. Topographic surveys, showing all existing and man-made features, are performed simultaneously with the boundary survey. BMB locates and maps the original limestone kilns used to construct the Missions, which are located in the banks of the historic location of the San Antonio River. Utilizing the data supplied in the Cultural Landscape Survey, the conceptual, prospective, schematic drawings of proposed drainage and any trail ways/pathways are generated. These drawings result in recommendations for development, which addresses users (potential and identified), usage, current development, costs for future development, maintenance schedule, and budget, and a long-term strategy for a comprehensive drainage and improvements. We continue to work closely with the National Park Service staff and archeologist on the Las Cabras Ranch Project, to delineate the area and to coordinate all improvements, so that no archeologically sensitive areas are disturbed, the historical/architectural integrity is safe-guarded and/or not threatened by improvements, and drainage to the area is left natural and undisturbed. Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery - Engineering and survey services to provide a site analysis, assist in the preparation of environmental compliance documents, and assist in wetland survey. Provide a utility service studies to include water distribution, sanitary sewer, and storm water. Provide road condition survey, site design alternatives, evaluation of existing roads as to condition and level of repair, and hydrologic analysis. Survey services also include property, zoning, and utilities research, horizontal and vertical control, boundary survey, topographic survey, tree and shrub survey, aerial photogrammetry to set control panels for flight control. City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department Salado Creek Linear Parkway Project - Boundary Surveys of linear parcels to comprise two segments of the Salado Creek Linear Park from Wetmore to Fort Sam Houston, (approximately 7 miles) includes horizontal and vertical control, metes and bounds descriptions and other information to be used in schematic design of the park. As a subconsultant we are providing survey services for the design of a Hike and Bike Trail through the park. Woodlawn Park - For the area included in the Phase I Park Improvements, development of schematic of west parking lots, a site-grading plan, and survey of area, including drainage from parking lots into Woodlawn Lake. Additional services included horizontal location of footpath around perimeter of the park, topographic survey of remaining parking lots and tennis courts and area for proposed children’s playground, and a tree survey. Dawson Park - Survey control and apparent Right-of-Way, utilities mapping, topographic improvement and tree survey, civil design of site and grading plan, drainage improvements, signing and marking plan, SW3P plan preparation , wheelchair ramp details design, and specifications. SURVEY San Antonio and Corpus Christi IDQ Survey Contracts - Work order assignments throughout both districts including Digital Terrain Modeling (DTM), topographic, boundary, Right-of-Way, control for aerial flights, and construction surveying. Larger assignments include: U.S. 181- Skidmore to Sinton - Complete and submit a Right-of-Way map for the entire project, plus Exhibit “A”s according to Corpus Christi TxDOT District Right-of-Way on the map. BMB adds utilities and field verification as well as including utility and contact number. BMB conducts research of abandoned Railroad Right-of-Way from acquisition to present ownership, and monumentation of proposed Right-of-Way and existing Right-of-Way throughout project. S.H. 123 Guadalupe County, Texas - Establish Primary GPS and vertical control; layout flights panels and establish horizontal and vertical coordinates; find and/or set existing Right-of-Way and centerline corners; prepare retracement map which entails solutions to discrepancies between the 1931 and 1974 Right-of-Way maps. Set GPS monuments, set Right-of-Way monuments and prepare GPS obstruction field sketches. FM 2696 Bexar County, Texas - Locate existing baseline control and set/ tie panels for aerial mapping. Establish/ monument Right-of-Way, locate/ tie utilities, drainage structures and trees, research to determine and prepare Right-of-Way map showing centerline, existing Right-of-Way and monumentation, with utilities, drainage structures, trees, adjoining ownership info shown, provided Right-of-Way retracement and monumentation. FM 158 in Glasscock County, Texas - As a subconsultant, established horizontal and vertical control, establish BMB circuit, tie to State RIGHT-OF-WAY monumentation, cross-section of drainage channels, tie to utilities, measure hydraulic openings and tie bridges and DTM for twenty plus miles of roadway reconstruction design. ADDITIONAL SURVEY ON-CALL CONTRACTS Bain Medina Bain, Inc. is also the Surveyor-of-Record for the Alamo Community College Bond Issue Work, and has Work Order Survey Contracts with the San Antonio Water System, City Public Service, the San Antonio International Airport for Construction Projects, and the San Antonio River Authority. |
